ViroGates has shut down its server and archived the old NAV. The replacement is Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in the Cloud, Power BI, and Office 365.
The process actually started with a desire to get Office 365. However, it was discovered that their Dynamics NAV from 2009 was a 'showstopper' for Office 365.
At the same time, they got a new colleague who wanted Power BI, according to May Britt Dyvelkov, VP Finance Manager. Thus, the idea of getting a completely new and modern digital setup began to take shape.
May Britt Dyvelkov had looked at Business Central a few times and noted that they did not want to be 'first movers' on the solution, but thought it looked reasonable.
By the end of 2019, she and her colleagues were ready to make the move, and NORRIQ was recommended by a supplier.
Before deciding on a new system, ViroGates was in the same situation as many others with an older Dynamics NAV on a perhaps not-so-new server: The solution had become outdated and did not work well with new applications.
“We had the choice between investing in a new server and completely moving to a Cloud solution, and I must say: We are not deterred by the cloud. On the contrary. I have not experienced the system going down even once,” says May Britt Dyvelkov.
The possibility of using Power BI in the new solution has been enthusiastically received by the salespeople.
“It was highly requested. Now they have access to follow how things are developing,” says May Britt Dyvelkov.
“We had a good initial meeting where we clarified what we needed the solution for, and we also agreed on the timeline,” says May Britt Dyvelkov.
And while NORRIQ did the preliminary work, she completed the annual accounts in the old system. This was followed by four consultant days at ViroGates. “On the first day, we focused on inventory management, which we use for some of our products.
The consultant was told what we generally needed, and we discussed what he should do and what we could handle ourselves,” says May Britt Dyvelkov.
Day 2 was spent on the chart of accounts and assistance with setting up the accounts.
On day 3, ViroGates was introduced to the RapidStart system in Business Central. This solution makes it easy for the company to import debtors and creditors using Excel.
It was also decided how ViroGates could easily get their own external reports, including invoices.
“The consultant from NORRIQ had good input throughout and was a great help. He quickly understood our needs and sensed what we could handle ourselves.”
The last day with the consultant was used to follow up on inventory management and ensure everything was working correctly.
“It went much faster than we thought.” The collaboration between ViroGates and NORRIQ began in December 2019, and the new solution was ready by mid-January.
“Everything has run smoothly, and we were up and running much faster than we had expected,” says May Britt Dyvelkov. While she prepared the annual accounts in the old NAV, she gathered all documents for 2020, and on the day the accounts were ready, ViroGates switched to Business Central.
“It worked from the start, and the consultant was ready to answer any questions that arose along the way. I have received and continue to receive all the help I need. I just call or send an email,” says May Britt Dyvelkov.

ViroGates
The company was founded in 2001, based on an invention at Hvidovre Hospital. Inventor and founder Jesper Eugen-Olsen discovered the possibility of using the biomarker suPAR in HIV.
Since then, more than 1,000 research articles have been published, positioning suPAR as one of the most promising biomarkers in various areas of healthcare and longevity. The company especially aims to help hospitals prioritize resources in relation to individual patients’ needs for medical treatment, including admission and discharge.
Additionally, they help longevity clinics offer even better programs to their clients, where the test can be used to calculate a person’s biological age. It has taken many years to figure out how to best use the marker, and in 2018, ViroGates went public and raised money for further commercial development.
The market is primarily Europe at first. ViroGates has salespeople in France and Spain and sells to the rest of the world through distributors.
